Under its R&D theme of “development of innovative platform technologies,” MEDINET has been conducting comprehensive Research and Development raging from the fundamental research related to the therapy for cancers and other incurable diseases, technological development to commercialize outcomes from such fundamental research, to clinical development of such developed technologies. At the same time, MEDINET continuously improves its cell culturing and processing technology which is essential for MEDINET’s current core business “Immuno-Cell Therapy Total Support Service.” The outcomes from such R&D are implemented into MEDINET’s Service in a timely manner in order to deliver the novel technologies to cancer patients, which MEDINET believes is contribution for the society.
The Research & Development Business Unit of MEDINT is comprised of R&D Planning Department in which the whole R&D projects are planned and organized, MEDINET Medical Institute in which fundamental researches and technological development are conducted, and Clinical Development Department in which clinical studies are planned, coordinated, and conducted by collaboration with medical institutions. Close cooperation between such departments enables MEDINET to develop new technologies with efficiency. A synergy is brought by integration of knowledge from talented professionals in various fields such as medicine, pharmacology, chemistry, biology, engineering and the other related areas.
The focus of the MEDINET’s fundamental research is on obtainment of understandings for cancer immunotherapy, while that of the technological development is on commercialization of the outcomes from the fundamental research, such as building up large scale culture of lymphocytes. Clinical studies, which are implementation of outcomes from fundamental research and technological development, are intensively conducted together with Contracted Medical Institutions, university hospitals and other medical institutions in order to examine safety and efficacy of the therapy of technologies originally developed by MEDINET and to accumulate clinical evidence of the Immuno-Cell Therapy.
In order to accelerate such R&D, the talented professionals from different departments join a project. MEDINET runs various R&D projects which are prioritized based upon research themes of the projects, and thus enabling MEDINET to complete its R&D projects with efficiency and effectiveness. In addition, MEDINET has conducted collaborative researches and studies with universities, medical institutions, research institutions and other business entities to seek the innovation for technologies of next-generation.
